If you've been around for a little while you probably know that I HATE First USA. They pulled two of their, "You may have sent your payment 14 days in advance but we didn't get it in time." stunts on me last year and in return I paid off my balance and closed the account, never to deal with them again.

On saturday I got a letter from my alma mater offering a decent deal on a credit card. I was just planning on taking advantage of one of the good deals I had recieved recently so I thought, "Great! Now I can have 3.9% for the 6 months I need to pay off this 2nd-to-last balance." I went to read the fine print (like every good Fool should do) and who should be issuing the card but my arch nemesis, First USA. Despite my history with them I actually contemplated getting the card because I did want a new card and I love my school so much (2 years out so it's still fresh). I'm happy to report that I decided my disdain for FirstUSA was much more important than having a stupid little card with my school's name on it. I tore up the application and threw it in the trash.

I know it's not a big event, but I'm sticking to my guns when it comes to punishing First USA for their bad practices. Now I just have to write a letter to my alumni cancel and tell them that THEY shouldn't do business with First USA. :-)

3 cards down, 2 to go, and no FirstUSA!
