Thanks for the info and the tips. I think I'll end up ditching my Verizon land line this year sometime. I know I'll get good reception at home because friends have no problem, even in the basement. So it has the potential to easily replace the land line, even if I don't take it out of the house which I know is silly but I really don't look forward to carrying a cell phone around all the time. The main advantage of a cell phone, for me, is the ability to get rid of telemarketers.

The only concern I have is radiation. But I've found a solution. It's called a cell phone "docking station". You can find one for the model of cell phone you have via a google search, otherwise they may be hard to find. They aren't really popular yet and run for around $100-$200. Basically, you plug your cell phone into one and then use the docking station's portable phone. It's just like a regular wireless phone except it uses your cell phone for the "line" rather than your land line. Perfect for avoiding radiation.

Can't wait to ditch Verizon.
