To add a little to the others,

You can avoid probate by titling bank accounts, brokerage account as joint tenants.

A revocable trust can save tax if you have a bypass or credit shelter trust. A trust that includes provisions for a bypass trust can pass $2 million estate tax free in 2002 for a married couple.

For many people trust are not as necessary as they were before the unified credit went up to $1,000,000. For people with millions and people with younger children and some assets they are very useful.

good luck, EG who will be gone in 12 days
