To answer your question, negative information can remain on your credit report for no longer than 7 years from the date of the event. Eash late payment will "fall off" your credit report as that payment ages beyond 7 years.

Does this mean that if one payment was made late each year for five years, that when the first one reaches 7 years, the count will drop to 4 late payments?
