Last night, I met with a group of friends at our regular Friday night restaurant/bar for drinks, food, and fellowship. During dinner, one of the wives started talking to a kid at the next table. The kid was graduating from the local university today. He wore a coat and tie, which is unheard of around here. He was bright-eyed and ready to take on the world. His dad walked over to talk, and he was obviously proud as he could be of his son. The kid wanted to go to law school and become a big shot someday. The woman who started the conversation just kept talking and talking, and the kid just ate it all up. I think he likely will become a politician, but that's another story. Anyway, they left and all the guys at the table looked at each other and obviously were thinking the same thing: Boy, I'm glad we're done with the rat race, and good luck to the kid because he'll need it.
