To those who think nominating mamby pamby moderates is the way to go, who was the last real conservative who ran for president on the republican ticket and lost? Barry Goldwater, in 1964, almost 50 years ago - and he essentially paved the way for Reagan.

Goldwater and people like Goldwater will never win elections, not will they pave the way for people like them to win elections

Ronald Reagan? The Ex-Democrat, governor of California? A hard core conservative?

Apparently liberals are not the only people who rewrite history. Ronald Reagan was a pragmatic Conservative who understood how to get things done, and not remotely doctrinaire in his behavior.

HE would not even be on the radar screen given your feelings from the sound of things.
