Tomorrow is my first day on Medicare. I've got my Medigap and Drug Plan in place, and I will save a ton over the total cost of my individual Blue Cross policy (basic premium, dedutible, co-insurance). For the past several years, I had medical expense significantly in excess of the deductible and co-insurance. If the same or similar medical costs continue (and they should, or at least come close), then I'll be saving around $10K per year over what I will be paying for Medicare, Medigap, and Drug Plan. I even pay Part B premiums at the next step up, which will be $149/month for 2013. Thank you Mr. Government. Yes, I know I've paid for this over the years, but it's still nice to get some return on what I've been paying over my working years.
