Tonight for dinner I was having a good old-fashioned Polish meal: fresh kielbasa, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.

Discovered as I was getting ready to eat that I didn't have any horseradish for the kielbasa.

No problem. I always have a can of powdered wasabi in the cupboard. Mixed a little with water. A perfect substitute!

Thanks for the tip!. I love a good old-fashioned Polish meal myself. Amazing how well sauerkraut (or cabbage) and potatoes go together isn't it? In lieu of kielbasa I sometimes sprinkle baco's in the potatoes (I know, Christina, you hate baco's, but they add a smoky flavor). Mushrooms are another good add-in.

Now I'm craving pieorgies.... sauerkraut pierogies, cabbage pierogies, potato and cheese pierogies...all sauteed in butter and onions....
