I wanted to move a small traditional IRA into a much larger Rollover IRA, in order to consolidate accounts. Tainting the Rollover IRA is not a problem in my situation. Fidelity informed me that I could move the Rollover IRA into the Traditional IRA, but not the other way around. At the same time I am allowed to move my Keoghs (Profit Sharing and Money Purchuse) into my Rollover IRA. Why the difference? I would appreciate any information, e.g whether the information I got from Fidelity is correct. thanks
Irma

Well, it may be your money, but we have our rules.

I don't know of any tax law reason, other than the tainting you've already considered, why you couldn't. Talk to a higher-up at Fidelity. If they won't let you, find a custodian who will.
