Try an allocation strategy. I have been reasonably successful with equal parts REITs (VNQ, VNQI), natural resources (energy and mineral stocks, futures such as USCI or DBC), international stocks, domestic stocks. I've included a bond component in the past, but now feel there is too much risk of inflation.

Rejigger either annually or when allocation exceeds a tolerance range you set, such as so many percent up or so many percent down in proportion to the portfolio.
