Try lots of different cities that you could fly out of or into. For example I am with a days drive four cities that have major airports and

I could take a commuter flight to anywhere on the east coast. Southwest and AirTran do not normally show up on the normal searchs so check their web sites directely.

If you are traveling with several adults then consider booking the tickets one at a time since sometimes you can get one ticket at a decent price but not two.

Sometimes there will be good deals through Las Vegas or Orlando if you can get to one of those with out too much trouble so be sure to check those too. Also price flying out of Canada since their rates will sometimes be different.

A big issue will be when to book your return flight since it will be expensive to change that.
