AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY with the last sentence. And my initial comment clearly distinguished (I hope) between retirees who were electing immediate annuities in order to assure themselves of cash flow, and buying a deferred annuity in an IRA for someone some years away from expected retirment.

Thanks for the posts; I am always willing to reconsider my position, especially when I am well aware that my knowledge base is weak.
