The Turkish Interest rate is currently running at around 17%, I have heard of afew people who have opened deposit accounts over there and received a good return on their money. How secure would you say the turkish banking system is? Does anyone know if the Turkish Govt guarantees the deposits and how are turkish banks coping with the current credit crunch. what I'm really asking is how safe do you think it is to put some money over there (bearing in mind the rcurrent risks involved in the other more traditional investment areas such as equities)

Regards
