"At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some trans-Atlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us in a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined could not, by force, take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected?I answer that if it ever reach us, it must spring from amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we ourselves must be the authors and finishers. As a nation of free men, we must live through all times, or die by suicide."-Abraham Lincoln"As we think about this important front in the war against extremists and terrorists, it's important for our fellow citizens to recognize this truth: If we were to leave Iraq before the job is done, the enemy would follow us home."-George W. Bush
I'm sure we have the power to bend Iraq to our will if we are willing to put two million soldiers there. The problem is we want to do it on the cheap.Meanwhile there is also Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran, and North Korea. Are you sure we have enough resources to go around? We live in a dangerous world. We had better use our resources wisely.
W allowed 9/11 to happen and he and his party have been riding on that incompetence ever since.Ken
