Typically, the bulb life rating is a "half-life." That is, in your case, after 1500 hours the bulb is supposed to be 50% dimmer than it was at 0 hours. The bulb dims slowly enough that most people don't notice that it has happened. However, if your projecor has an "economy" mode to dim the bulb slightly right away - and you have been using it - then your timer might underestimate the remaining bulb life. Regardless, I seriously doubt anything is going to explode.
