Unions are the problem??? Sure they are, industrial unions are...they are the ones who get "unskilled classifications" (bag smashers, janitors and cleaners) high wages for jobs that outside the industry pay much less with out the benifits that acompany working for an airline. Pilots union is "the best"! these guys union really blow the curve, and while you may think that mechanics make a lot, they weren't until around 9-11, we were making comparitivly (with other SKILLED crafts) decent wages, but not to cover the ENORMUS responsibility we have when we sign for our work, The pilots really take the cake, the figure of 85K was thrown around (average wage) I know I make nothing close but a Pilot average is well over 100K and reaching as high as 450K for the biggest birds (can you guess why UA is parking 747-400's by the dozen??? these are realtivly new "smart" aircraft but when just the crew to make a trans-continental flight eats almost 2mil (two full crews...FAA regs limiting flying hrs/day) in profit you can guess the rest.....

Next problem with this industry is that there is WAY TOO MUCH MANAGEMENT!!!! check UAL's GOOFY new plan code named Starfish....they want to start a "new" LCC (low cost carrier) by "spinning off" roughly 30% of what UA currently has by way of aircraft and routes....but get this they need a whole new set of managers to run this!????? right now we have (UAL) 1 high paid "manager" for every 16 employee's ! recently published excess....Glenn Tilton (and wife) are staying in a hotel for the loopy amount of 18K/month!! UA could have bought a nice house or condo for them to stay in by now!!

This WHOLE industry needs to be looked at and re-calibrated, not just the workers but the management as well !! Nothing will get "fixed" until "they" see this
