United for many years was my preferred
airline. I saw things change about 10
years ago. I'm not sure if this was
caused by the employee-owned business deal
or what. Nowadays - you are squashed in
there like a sardine in a can. The attendants
are rude and could care less if you are
comfortable. You rarely see a smile or
a kind word from any of them.

My last two flights have been on Alaska
Airlines. I was amazed at the difference
between Alaska and United. The stewards
were actually helpful and friendly. There
was actually enough room to cross your legs.
I fell asleep during the last hour of the
flight (normally I have to stay awake to
keep the plane up in the air) and the
stewardess stopped by to tell me I had
missed the ice cream while sleeping and
would I like some now. Can you imagine
that happening on United?

It's truly a shame what has happened to
United Airlines. I feel very strongly
that they have brought this on themselves
and taxpayers should not have to bail them out.


P.S. - Even Southweste is a delight compared
