In the process of refinancing our house, we had a merged credit report pulled through CREDCO. Equifax, Experian and Trans Union are all listed on one very long report. After seeing several recent delinquent accounts that we know we do not have,we turned to the last few pages to get the toll free number for CREDCO. Under a section called"AKA Information" was someone else's name (female). Under "Employment Information" were several positions listed we have never held.

The result of this erroneous information is my wife's FICO score has been downrated from a previous 752 to 599. We of course are going to be on the phone and writing letters constantly until this is cleared up, but it still comes as a shock. Error? Identity theft? Don't know yet. But I'm glad we caught it.

So if you haven't checked your credit rating lately, do it.
