Let me start out by saying, please don't feel sorry for me, be happy. I am. They cut that nasty gangrene from my body giving me a chance for a full, healthy life. I now have a 9" stump below the knee with a prosthetic to come once the swelling goes down.

I blew everyone out of the water by making the decision to go to the E.R., May 1. Everybody thought I was "chicken." The way things were going with all my doc's and the preliminary tests they wanted BEFORE doing anything, it wouldn't have been till late June before anything meaningful was done! There was no way the E.R was going to turn me away, especially with insurance. So here I sit 13 days later (came home WED.) in my own home all fixed and damn happy. By the way, I never felt any pain that a couple of Tylenol's couldn't handle. That blew their minds!

There are a whole lot of details I'm leaving out but it mainly concerns the hospital and how stupid they are. It is absolutely absurd how these various doctors and nurses perform their jobs. It's all CYA on their part. It's no wonder the cost of medical care is out of sight. But I am one of the fortunate. Through my DW's insurance, our out of pocket is only $240.00. Amazing!

Well. once I get the prosthetic and a bit of physical therapy, things can only look brighter for me.

Best regards,
Duane

Hey Duane,

Good for you!! I'm glad you took matters into your own hands and got results.

So ummm, do we nickname you Gimp now? :-)

Well. once I get the prosthetic and a bit of physical therapy, things can only look brighter for me.

Once y'all get up and going again, come on over here and we'll gimp around town together and terrorize everyone...Or at least swill a coupla beers and pretend. :-)

Duane, ye oughta trek on over to Aruba's Isle& put on a piratey name, perhaps come up with a story about great white sharks (the doctors wear white, yes?)and maybe an eyepatch on one eye would add a touch of pirate class..
