So on Oct. 02, 2008 $10k magically appeared in my checking acct. At first I was shark and scared that the bank had made a mistake. I have since investigated and find that the money really is mine. I had put in a case with the SSI office a year ago about some numbers not matching up and then I forget about it.

So now I have well had $10898 now I have $9K sitting in an interest bearing acct not sure what to do. I don’t want to make a mistake.

I have got my mortgage paid up to date, and my only credit card is paid in full. I do have a Citi Fin acct at $9k+ at 26% interest I plan to call them tomorrow (Monday) and try to settle for about $3k-$4k.

What do I do with the rest? Just let it sit there? I started my new job back in TN and starting fixing the house (almost too normal now). Vegas is a thing of the past now. I have the two housemates paying $400 each. My first check at my new job was $579.00 after taxes (that includes 11 hours over time).

I have had good time and bad times. I have been posting on this site for about 20 months now and in that time I have only had a job for about 14 months off and on. I am scared I don’t want to get it wrong.

PS I can’t get 401k with my new job until after one year of employment.
