American companies should avoid doing business with China's two leading technology firms because they pose a national security threat to the United States, the House Intelligence Committee is warning in a report to be issued Monday.

I find this to be completely paranoid behaviour by this Committee.
The US employs tens of thousands of ethnic Chinese throughout the whole of the US economy. Any one of those could, and some have, stolen US secrets and there's absolutely nothing the US can do about except dismiss every Chinese from every research, government and private institution.

Singling out just two companies who are accused of posing a threat to the US is ludicrous. If this Committee succeeds in convincing US companies to avoid doing business with these two Chinese companies China will retaliate in kind.
