The Minneapolis-based bank more than doubled its dividend to 12.5 cents per share from a nickle, resulting in a 50-cent annual payout.

The bank also authorized the repurchase of 50 million shares by year-end, and said it will wait for regulators to provide industry guidance on long-term capital requirements later this year, before making any "meaningful" share buybacks.
