Use an Excel or Lotus spreadsheet to track your expenses. I keep my receipts and when I get home I put literally every purchase on any card (credit, gasoline, ATM, etc.) on the sheet. That way I see exactly how much I am spending per month and on what.While I agree that one should track where every penny goes, I think your spreadsheet solution may prove to be a bit archaic. I would suggest that you check out Quicken. It's very easy to use, and is quite versatile in the number of ways you can view your finances.-Dave
