I would love to have some input on Van Kampen Emerging Growth Fund A and why it may not be suitable for the following scenario.
My father has approximately 450 shares invested in Van Kampen. He has another 20K-25K he would like to invest and then live off the interest. He will be 74 years old and is still working. I explained to him that I don't think Van Kampen is the way to go. I am a novice when it comes to investing, but I know the Fools don't particularly like mutual funds. I need some advice/suggestions as to what might be a good way to go. Thanks for any help.
