I work for a small company that just started offering a 401k to its employees In Jan. 98, I have been putting in the maximum allowed by my plan {15%} since its start and not really paying much attn to it. I was recently trying to find the funds on the internet and discovered that it is not per say a mutual fund{s} but a variable rate annuity contract{s}. could someone let me know what the difference is?

foolish dreamer.
