visit some of the world's poorest slums on their vacationsOur plane came low over the slums as we were about to land at Mumbai airport. No thanks. On the other hand, we walked and drove past homeless people living on the street in a few other places in India. They were polite and surprisingly clean. They set up wash basins for selves and clothes and cook/heat with small coal fires--but the air pollution was terrible from so many of those little fires. Plus I think many heat their homes with coal, as we used to in the US before we decided to make our air safer to breathe. Darn govt regulations!!
