In 2007, Romney said: “My position was effectively pro-choice. And that position changed.”

It's not unusual for politicians--indeed anyone--to change positions about a sensitive human issue such as abortion. The passage of time and accumulated wisdom sometimes causes one to think differently. Rather than being "no longer bothered," perhaps Romney believes there are (and were) alternatives to abortion (such as adoption) whereby a woman wouldn't be vulnerable to a botched abortion.

I have a friend whose cousin got pregnant as a teenager. She carried the fetus to term and gave the baby up for adoption to a childless couple. The child is today a beautiful little girl. Maybe that's what Romney is thinking about. The way abortion is promoted in this country as a woman's first choice is nothing short of tragic.

The libruls' consistent beat of the flip flop drum paints Romney as a flip flopper when this is simply not true.

Libruls says Romney flip-flopped on the Wall Street bailout when, in fact, he has consistently supported its original intent but opposed Obama’s decision to extend TARP and use its funds for other programs, including the auto bailout.

Libruls claim Romney changed his position on the auto bailout. The fact is Romney consistently called for a “managed bankruptcy” similar to what was later undertaken, but he opposed the use of federal funds by both Bush and Obama.

Libruls cast Romney as a one-time supporter of Obama’s stimulus. In fact, Romney favored a smaller stimulus and opposed the “excessive borrowing” of Obama’s plan as the “wrong course.” As a result, we're now $15.6 TRILLION dollars in debt!

Libruls portrays Romney as supporting Obamacare. Not true. He has consistently defended his Massachusetts law as right for his state, but opposed imposing it on other states by federal law.

Similarly, libruls claim Romney supported Obama’s education program, Race to the Top. But, again, Romney supported some of the program’s goals, but he said those kinds of issues ought to be handled at the state level, not federal.

Bottom line, this country is in too much--indeed DIRE--fiscal trouble to be concerned about abortion--even though an estimated 54 MILLION abortions have occurred since Roe v. Wade--to make it a top tier concern. FIFTY FOUR MILLION fetuses have been aborted! It's absolutely appalling and heartbreaking, but if our fiscal issues aren't resolved, there soon won't be a country in which any woman can obtain an abortion--legal or illegal.
