We are having aproblem getting a decent credit card wiht a reasonable rate. We move a lot- my husband's job moves us every 18 months or so, and this seems to be held against us when we apply for a card.

You're definately being punished for moving every 18 months.

Is there a place that you call home? Is there a bank or credit union associated with your husband's job that would issue credit appropriate to his unique circumstances?

In your case, avoid the big national bank centers in favor of a personal banking experience such as that found in a local bank, a bank branch, or a credit union. Develop a handshake relationship with a person there that can get to know you and your lifestyle and help ensure you get a fair deal. The big bank centers are geared toward the mainstream.

Our credit report seems to be ok- nothing more an a "1" on any of our accounts.Do they count closed or paid accounts in determining credit card issuance?

Yes, it counts, it's considered a good sign and would only add points to a credit score. It would not be a reason for declining an application.
