We go to a dentist who is the brother of one of my best old friends. He isn't "in-network" with any insurance plan we've ever had, so it's kind of pricey, but he does good work. His son is now in dental school, so we have hopes that the practice will be in good hands for a while.
One evening a couple of years back, my older daughter knocked four of her front teeth loose doing an inexplicable "face plant" onto the wooden arms of our futon. My friend called her brother on his private number for us, and he told us to come on over to his house if we wanted him to look at it and give us advice-- free of charge. His wife even gave our daughter a teddy bear.
Not too many dentists will do that sort of thing.
(My daughter's teeth firmed back up in place, and the only noticeable change is that she is a marginally more careful person than she used to be.)
