We have a couple of apple trees, a Mac and a Rome. The Macintosh had a ton of apples on it. I spent all summer eagerly awaiting them. I went out a couple days ago to find that in two days time, the birds had taken out all but one apple.

What kinda birds you got down there? Have yet to see a Yankee bird eat an apple, most especially a full-sized one. Heck, we can't even get 'em to eat those annoying crabapples the wildlife habitat people keep saying they are supposed to like.

I keep needing to remind myself y'all are south of the Mason-Dixon line; our Macs won't be ready for picking for another 4-ish weeks. Except for some real early varieties, Labor Day seems to be the start of "apple season".

who is still in the throes of PEACH season ... YUMMMMMM!
