We have had 2 experiences with urgent care, both negative. First, care was not as good as it should have been in one case--we should have gone to the ER, but we're not doctors (in the other case, treatment was excellent). Second, they aren't as well covered by our insurance (much more to spend out of pocket than either seeing our regular doctor, a specialist or an ER)--they don't have a deal with our insurance company so we had to pay a lot after the insurance coverage. Third, in one case there was a very long wait (over 2 hours). All in all, I doubt we will ever use such a facility again.
