We just went thru all this: You can change your Part D provider every year from Nov 15 to Dec. 31.

If you choose a Medicare ADVANTAGE plan when you first are eligible, you can change to original MEDICARE anytime within the first 12 months, Medicare HAS to take you and so does any supplement.

If you change to original Medicare after the first 12 months, no supplement has to automatically take could be put thru medical underwriting to qualify. The exception to this (for us) was United of Omaha, they (at the time) were giving 24 months unconditional.

My DH went from Medicare Advantage with Humana 22 months after he was eligible, did not go thru medical underwriting. I changed from BCBS Advantage after 7 months.

We are both now on original Medicare and a supplement (new Plan F) not the old Plan F. Combined we are paying $96.40 ea from our SS check each month, and $114 each per month for our supplement. My DH is excluded from Part D due to his VA medical status, I'll be paying $14.90 for WMT & Humana.

I had one trip to the emergency room using BCBS Advantage, and it cost me over $1000 after finding out the hospital didn't accept it, nor did my assigned cardiologist. I was thrilled to get away from that plan, have since used my Medicare and United of Omaha, and have never seen a big............."works for me"!!!!!!
