We need a lot more information before we can offer much advice. I gather you are vested in your employer's pension plan. How close are you to retirement?Do you have disability insurance? Have you applied for disability payments under Social Security? Are the payments offered (including the annuity) sufficient to cover your living expenses and inflation for the rest of your life? If in doubt, a financial planner can probably help answer the question.As to termination for medical disability, you may have a legal claim. A lawyer may also be able to help with your Social Security case.I would suggest that you keep the annuity and not accept the offered buyout until you have answers to these various questions. You want a settlement that will meet your needs for the rest of your life if it can be arranged.
