Well, as much as I appreciate the recommendation simply to veer blanco, I tried a Rioja Tempranillo, as the woman likes formidable continental wines. Sure enough, once uncorked, a Quixotic game emerged, with the Tigres (si, we employed Spanish when we could) taking an early lead, but with St. Louis ganar in what I privately deemed to be less than heroic fashion.

I miss the days when Torre used to pull strings like Greenspan at the Fed to safely pilot the Yankees through yet another troubled moment. But I can get used to wine for October baseball, regardless of who's playing.
