Well, I called American Enterprise back and talked with a different person this time. He was nicer and seemed to know a little more of what he was talking about. He is sending more paperwork and says that if I write "Inherited IRA" on the form, that should be sufficient. The Vanguard guy said basically the same thing. Write inherited IRA across the top of the form. Appearently there isn't even an official blank on either form for putting such a critical piece of information. Not very comforting. We'll see when I actually get the forms.
