Well, in the interest of fairness, i guess i should point out that not everyone thinks the Fund for Afghan Children is a good idea. Over on the LBYM board, learning2bfrugal posted a message about it, which i was delighted to see:


However, the thread that ensued listed all sorts of reasons why the fund was a bad idea. I'll paraphrase some of them:

* There are already enough charitable solicitations going around.
* The American poor would be better served by the money.
* Schools should concentrate on reading, math, etc. rather than teaching service.
* It's just a political propoganda ploy.

Finally, in the interest of not repeating myself, here is my reply:
