Well Jacob, I would agree that 5 years is the bare minimum, and 10-20 is ideal for judging a manager. I guess that we are both wrong. Apparently it is 2.5 years. If MF really pulled the plug on Matthew & Alpha then we the community are the fools that got duped.

Mark Cuban is a rather brash fellow. He jokes about the stock market being for suckers, but still he owns stocks. His story about FB is pretty similar, where he jokes about buying it to ride the opening frenzy, and sell to a bigger sucker. He liquidated his FB on opening day because he saw the bids disappear on his terminal, and he realized that he was the sucker! =)

I guess the MF marketing about a long/short hedge fund style service that would do well over the long term of 5 plus years, was for suckers like us that believe in sticking to a strategy and refining it over the long haul, rather than closing up shop because a few people complain.
