Well, my hero would still have to be The Cannibal.....Eddie Merckx.

I'm looking forward to Oprah's interview with him when he gets stripped of his titles for doping. Maybe it's OK, though, if you actually tested positive at the time.....repeatedly

Yea, Merckx was no paragon of virtue, that's for sure, but from everything I've heard about him he left the killer attitude on the bike and didn't go out of his way to destroy lives.

Also, the doping used during Merckx's era cannot be compared to the oxygen-vector stuff of the past two decades. That doesn't excuse that he did it, but to me Merckx's results and dominance are way more legitimate than Armstrong's.
