Look at that! A bellydance board on TMF.
If you're looking for a really extensive website, the following is the best one I know:
http://www.bellydanceny.com/
Just click on the picture when it's done loading and you'll get to a page that will keep you busy for days. There are links to many other interesting bellydance sites. There's a costume exchange. Too much to describe here. Although my friend who runs the site is located in New York City, so that much of what you'll find is local, don't let that stop you - there's plenty here for everyone.
I was a professional bellydancer for 20 years, and retired at least 10 years ago. I taught for about 18 years at Serena Studios in NY, and I also had a bellydance costume boutique there for many years. But mostly I was known for the costumes I made for dancers all over the world (mostly in the NY area.) I also imported costumes from Egypt and from Turkey, and I went on 3 tours to Egypt with groups of bellydancers. And I wrote articles for bellydance magazines here and there.
I also performed at Lincoln Center 7 different times as part of Serena Dance Troupe. That was a real thrill.
Those were fun years. Bellydancing is the best thing that I ever did for myself. Here's a picture of me about 25 years ago. I must have been about 40 when this was taken:
