What a great idea! I use two shredder-free alternatives. 1) Keep a separate garbage bag for sensitive papers (credit card offers, bank statements, etc.) accumulate. When the bag is getting close to full, pile in stuff that will decompose in as smelly a manner as possible (skin/fat from meat you prepare; tuna cans, etc.) By the time any would-be thief gets near your stuff, they'll pass it by for something less oderifous. 2) If credit card offers or other junk mail comes with a postage paid reply envelope, rip up the offer, stuff it in the envelope and send it back. (They might even take you off their mailing list, though I doubt it.) AF
