hello everyone,

i'm new here and i'm looking for advice on my current situation. i'm 24 years old and i'm trying to build up my credit but i've been denied a couple of cc and i don't know if i should just hold off for now.

When i was 17 i opened up a joint credit card to help out my older sister. I never made a single transaction on the card. But over the years the balance grew to over $15K and my sister never paid it off. Last year she filed for bankruptcy and the account was closed.

I know that even though i personally never made a transaction of the card my name was still on it. I can't really talk to my sister about any of the details of how her decisions affect me because she always brushes me off.

What can i do now? Where can i start to build (or rebuild) my credit?

Any advice/comments will help.

Thanks :)
