I asked my 19 year old son who attends college in N.J., to meet me in Midtown for lunch. He said he would only if we ate at Whole Foods at Columbus Circle. The rest is history. We were there over 3 hours. He told me, as if I didn't know, organic food is the present and the future. Afterwards, I went back to the East Side, read and joined The Motley Fool, called my broker and bought 600 shares in his name. I sold some of my profits from Apple and J&J.
I produced a prodigal son who knows from the finest produce and has the foresight to know that once you exerience the finest, there's no going back - including those that previously would never pay extra for organics or even shop at upscale supermarkets like The Food Emporium. We're not looking for a quick return on investment. It's also not as risky when you're in it for the long haul. I don't believe in coincidences, so the fact that we were so impressed there, and then I go home and check out The Motley Fool and pulled out my credit card because I was determined to know what stock they were comparing to Starbucks and discover it is Whole Foods..... let's just say, irrespective of some dubious analysts, I picked the cream of the crop. My son also intends to invest his bar-mitzvah money in WFMI.
Perhaps my confidence has to do with the tip someone gave me when I just graduated college in 1973. The stock was Limited Stores. I invested $4,000 and sold it a few years later at $95,000.
Buy it now or you will regret it, for sure. In less than 48 hours I have generated much interest in all my baby boomer peers.
