What if I told you that preventing the attack probably would have taken an act against against due process and civil liberties that it would make the Patriot Act look like the Boy Scout Handbook? Sure, lots of things are preventable. I wouldn't be suprised if we had some indication that planes were going to be hijacked... I don't see how you think we could have stopped it.What these 'stories' fail to mention is HOW MANY OTHER possible scenarios were presented by the FBI. In the game of 'what if', a plethora of possible terrorist acts can be 'anticipated'. It's easy to be 'right' if you make enough predictions. (god knows, some on some boards here are ALWAYS right as they predict anything and everything and one of them comes to pass) How do you suggest Bush choose which scenario to anticipate? Hindsight is easy. And I agree - there would have been ACLU screaming had any overt attempts made to thwart every possible attack. You tell me, which of the hundreds of possible modes of terrorist attacks will be next? Then, we'll prepare for it.Teri ... seeing nothing but monday morning quarterbacking here
