what if she consulted
her church and was told 'no'.....if that's the case she shouldnt
be castigated for being devout........

then she should have consulted the church before fertility treatments. It is a natural part of the process that there are extra embryos that are culled to ensure a healthy pregnancy. If the church is against that, then they should be against fertility treatments in general.
