What is the least amount of money a couple would need to retire on if they are planning on living a not lavish lifestyle. Eating out only a couple times a week. Living modestly -- no MacMansions.

It is an interesting question. A lot of it would depend on in which state you live. For example, the link below shows the difference in income taxes between states such as Delaware and Pennsylvania. A lot of it will depend one's individual situation, whether one rents or not for example.
