What is the penalty for not completing, 2 hrs, 3 hrs? Glad they toughed it out; w/ the non-elim round, they would have had a hard time overcoming that multi hour penalty the next leg (unless there's a bunch point of course).

From what I've read in interviews, the penalty varies for each task. The teams receive additional information in each clue that we don't see on TV, and that lists the penalty. I think it's usually between 2 and 4 hours, although it might be longer for certain tasks. If the penalty was only a couple of hours, I could see teams strategically deciding to skip long tasks much more often, and we rarely see teams take the penalty.
