What is your source document format? Usually document format translation is done inside document editors, not in printer drivers; and if you want to change formatting and save as a .txt file, most document editors will let you do that. Though things are a bit trickier if your source data is in a pdf.

The point of wanting it in a printer driver is to not care about the source document format. Like the print-to-PDF-file driver doesn't care.

What I have working in the interim is that my source program exports the document in HTML format, then LibreOffice imports that and save it in a text format that doesn't meet the requirements (double-spacing between paragraphs, and limited line length). Then the script I posted earlier uses sed to fix those defects.
