What software do you have? I downloaded it and did an auto-levels and it got much better. Using remove color cast fixed it even more, but I don't know what the original view looked like, so it's hard to say which version I should choose. (I have Photoshop Elements, but there should be equivalents for these in whatever you have.) I have JASC's Paint Shopt Pro (ver 7). I will look around for some of the tools you have described. The only thing I've really used with PS Pro is making some minor contrast adjustments and rezising the photos to post on the web. Other than that, most of the stuff I've tried has really made the pictures worse.
