What's not clear is - Exactly when did your mother die?

If she died in 2005 a phone call should clear that up quickly; though I think I'd answer their letter in writing. There's usually a box to check, with a short explanation, on those letters.

Yes, she died in 2005. I'll still follow up the phone call w/the letter (even though it doesn't even have the right boxes to check to describe the situation...I'll add my own explanation and a copy of the 1041) - I'm just hoping that this isn't something that would drag on for ages or involve a ton of paperwork, refiling things or some other thing that will make my head excessively hurt.
