When I first opened my IRA at a discount broker I subscribed to one of the Motley Fool newsletters for advice. One of my first stocks that I purchased based on their recommendations was MIDDLE BY (space doesn't belong there but my tablet can't understand that) at 54.13 a share. After about 6 months I wanted to buy Apple, so I sold the MIDDLE BY at 61.56 per share to buy Apple at 139.73 a share. At today's prices I would have been better off to have kept the first stock, especially because I sold Apple at 211 a share so I could buy something else. I am beginning to believe in the buy and hold strategy.
